Product Description

Mupirocin is an antibiotic used in the treatment of skin infections caused by Staphylococcus aureus and Streptococcus pyogenes. A bacterial infection is caused when bacterial cells invade our system and cause infection. The bacteria multiply very quickly inside the body and can cause infection in any body part. Mupirocin works by blocking the production of imperative proteins required for bacterial survival. The drug is also effective against Gram-negative organisms such as Escherichia coli and Haemophilus influenza. It is not effective against fungal or viral infections, and should not be applied on injured or burnt areas.

Use the ointment, only when prescribed by the doctor. It is not advised to be used on children below the age of two months. Apply the ointment to the affected area using a piece of clean cotton wool or gauze swab. Do not use the medicine more than the recommended dosage, to avoid any negative health effects. Complete the course of the medicine, even if you feel completely fine as Mupirocin is an antibiotic and there are chances of reinfection. Some users may notice side effects such as burning, itching, redness, stinging, and dryness on their skin in the place where Mupirocin is applied. In the case of sensitive allergic reactions (skin hypersensitivity reactions) like rashes, itching, swelling, and shortness of breath, immediately consult your doctor.
